The Hummingbird Centre was opened in September 2010 by Kellie Jones and Ellie Searle.

We already had a good working relationship and recognised that, with our unique mix of skills and experience, together we could set up a successful centre of our own.
So far, The Hummingbird Centre has been a great success, enabling us to become the largest specialist Pilates and Yoga Centre in Chelmsford and giving us high hopes for the future.

Our concept was to provide truly small-group Pilates and Yoga classes, high quality services and excellent customer care.

We took on large, high-end premises, which were ideal for our clients, offering two generously proportioned studios as well as two high-spec treatment rooms.

Now that you know a little about the centre, let us introduce you to a few of our staff...

Nam’s passion for Yoga and Healthy Living originates from Martial Arts. Training in Shotokan Karate and Wing Chun Kung Fu from the age of 6, led her to achieve her black belt through the K.U.G.B and J.K.A in 2000. Competing and teaching Karate, by 2008 she achieved her 3rd Dan black belt through the A.M.A.

Instilled with discipline from an early age, Nam felt there was a lack of longevity and compassion in her life. Having a Thai mother and English father meant she was travelling between both cultures. In 2002, she returned to Thailand to study Thai Yoga Massage that her grandmother taught her from being a child. This led her to practise and qualify in Thai Yoga Massage, Thai Foot Reflexology and Aromatherapy at the Wat-Po Medical School, Bangkok and Jap-Sen Nerve-Touch Massage in Chiang Mai.

With a love of Asian and Oriental Arts, she was also intrigued by Japanese Shiatsu and Tai Chi, and combined this with teaching Martial and healing Arts. Around 2006 in Cornwall, Nam really caught the Yoga bug! Practising Ashtanga and Sivananda Yoga, she went on to assist in Hatha classes in Koh Samui and Pattaya in various studios and gyms. Training and taking workshops with leading instructors Duncan Wong, Dr Elena Voyce, Jodie Merrick, David Sye, Jaqui Wan and Lucia Cockcroft, inspired Nam to study under Dr Elena Voyce for her 200Hr Yoga Alliance Diploma in London.

Namas Yoga has grown from Nam's love and devotion to moving Arts, anatomical awareness and exploring Yoga philosophy. Her passion and teaching style is infectious, immediately find yourself delving in to your abilities with postures and flows, guided safely towards finding your body alignment and tuning your spiritual awareness all within a single Namas Yoga class.
