Post Natal Yoga

Pregnancy Yoga is very different from traditional forms of Yoga. The emphasis of pregnancy yoga is on nurturing the mother. It gently prepares you for the birth of your baby and beyond, not just physically but also emotionally. Pregnancy yoga helps to keep the body strong and toned but without placing it under strain.

Our pregnancy yoga classes give you time to relax and focus on yourself, as well as helping you to bond you're your baby. We teach breathing techniques, which can be very effective in gently increasing lung capacity and are extremely helpful during labour.

Yoga is increasingly recommended to pregnant women because it is a gentle way of maintaining or regaining fitness, helping the body to prepare for the demands of labour, while reducing anxiety with breathing and relaxation techniques.

Pregnancy Yoga classes are suitable from 14 weeks right up until the birth. No previous experience of yoga is required.

Pregnancy Yoga Key Benefits:

  • Eases pregnancy related "niggles" and helps to prevent back pain and pelvic problems
  • Strengthens the lower back
  • Relaxation and breathing techniques reduce stress and can help during your labour
  • Improves breathing capacity
  • Faster postnatal recovery time

Postnatal Yoga

Postnatal Yoga courses run in six week blocks, they can be started as soon as you feel ready after the birth. You are welcome to bring your baby to class!

The focus with Postnatal Yoga is to use a gentle progression of exercises and breathing techniques to: regain physical strength, tone muscles, re-stabilise the pelvis and lower back, enjoy relaxation and develop a closer bond with your baby.

They can also help you to recover from back and pelvic problems and help you to avoid aches and pains commonly associated with caring for a new baby.

Additionally, they provide you with a chance to meet other new mums.

  • Strengthens the lower back and pelvis
  • Tones the pelvic floor muscles
  • Releases tension, especially around the shoulders from carrying your baby
  • Promotes relaxation and bonding with your baby
